It's true. After a fabulous 6 months in the good ole' south, Jon and I have decided to make California our new home, well more like our new old home...um...ya. We can't wait to see all of our old friends and stumble across all of the new rocks that are waiting to be turned over.

So we finally got our first house guest! ALEX! Came and stayed for a couple nights and was the first to officially crash on our couch! We went down to Nashville and he was able to see a little bit of our beautiful town. He and Jonny sat on our couch and played guitars, we ate hamburgers and potato salad (HOMEMADE I should add) and overall it was so great to see him! Love you Alex, come back and hang out with us some more!

Springtime in Franklin...

It has been absolutely gorgeous this last month. I can not believe that today is the 20th though, almost time to say goodbye to our beautiful Spring and hello to what I hear will be my least favorite Summer yet! I'm bracing for the humidity, I don't really know how to prepare for it, but atleast I try. Jonny and I took one of our few moments off and went to the Historic Carter House and drove the beautiful road to visit a Confederate Cemetary, which also had a plantation house and made me think I was in Gone with the Wind! I ran up to it yelling "Tara Tara"....don't judge me :) We love the tall grass and warm breezes and sweet tea.

ONE YEAR AGO....

On April 15th Jonny and I celebrated our one year anniversary of when this crazy ride first began. We both had the day off and enjoyed spending a whole day with each other and finishing off by having dinner in Downtown Nashville. Seeing all that has happened in one year, we can't wait to see what God has in store for us this year!

I am pleased to announce the newest arrival to our balcony. We call him Cain. Cain was first discovered this morning when I did my routine observance of mommy Eve, and I noticed something wiggling around. She is a very good mother because at the first sight of me she quickly protected her little one. WELL. Later today while Jonny was at work I decided to give it another glance out of our bedroom window and fortunately this time, being the AMAZING photographer that I am, I was able to catch this little miracle in action.

It was about time. I was starting to look like Carol Brady (it was either that or 'a mullet') Jonny and I were able to both get our hair cut these last couple weeks and now feel like spring has come. Small pleasures I guess.

HAPPY EASTER!

In the spirit of Easter and for the sake of tradition, we bought our little kit to dye Easter eggs. We purchased a glittery coloring kit (although the glitter turned out to be a little disappointing) and today while Jonny was at work I got everything together. The weather outside is beautiful but still a little too cool for our California liking, so we dyed our eggs on our balcony. They turned out beautiful and now our Easter holiday can feel a little more like home. Afterall what is Easter without opening your fridge and seeing beautifully colored eggs! And what is the week after Easter without enjoying a multi colored egg-salad sandwich! We haven't broken tradition yet and we're not planning on starting anytime soon. We love and miss our familes and friends very much and wish everyone a joyful celebration season celebrating our Resurrected Christ!

We were laying in bed one morning, and I heard a Whoo! I looked out my window and what did I see? A little grey dove. A little while later I peeked out my window once again and noticed that my little dove had began to start collecting some twigs. MY DOVE IS BUILDING A NEST! The next morning I did my routine checking in on our little dove, and now both mommy and daddy dove were hard at work building their nest right on our balcony. It's been about a week now and their beautiful nest is finally complete. Spring is here! And we are blessed enough to watch this little miracle! our doves, Adam and Eve. "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature.?" PRAISE BE TO GOD!!

We are eaters. It's true. You could probably even say that we eat for the fun of it. We love cooking together and spending time in the kitchen just enjoying good conversation and a glass of wine. Probably a Rose wine, seeing as how it's one of my new favorites! We can't wait till we can invite friends and family over to enjoy good food, good wine and even better company. EVERYONE'S INVITED!!! I am becoming quite the cook if you were wondering. I've mastered meatloaf, lemon chicken, enchiladas, spaghetti. We love to sit down at our little tv trays (we don't have room for a table) and watch tv (which now gets 2.5 channels, thanks to our new antenna). So come on over! I'll have to warn you that we are still on a B.Y.O.C basis (yes, that's 'bring your own chair').

Our apartment! Slowly but surely as each new thing finds it's place, our cozy apartment is becoming a refuge for us. We love spending time here and love the fact that everything here is ours. We marvel every day at God's un-deserving grace and praise Him daily that we go without needing. From the plates in the cupboard to the paint on the wall, we really do love it here.

Snow day means you still have to go to work.

IT SNOWS HERE!! and rains and hails and is sunny the next day....that's fun! But snow like I have never seen it, although granted there are very few occassions I have seen it, other then at Disneyland after the Christmas parade....and that one time it snowed in Murrieta (but I don't even know if that counts, I mean, it's Murrieta). It was fun. I had to work early in the morning and when we went out to the car, the door was actually frozen shut! Turns out a few people I talked to had actually broken door handles. Luckily mine opened after a few not too harsh attempts. I wanted to go out and play in it but was soon reminded that when it snows, well that means it's cold outside. And cold doesn't necesarily sound like fun when you have a fire in your fire place and slippers with your name on it. Who knows, maybe I'll venture out next time and build myself a snowman.

It's a beautiful city. The Starbucks are all the same. They have a mall with all our favorite stores, two Targets on each end of us and even a Super Center Wal Mart with everything you could need from groceries to furniture. They even have a Dollar Tree store so I can bargain shop the way I am used to. But the faces are new. People talk different here. The air feels cooler, and yet, my favorite jacket doesn't quite warm me up the way it used to. Change is a bigger deal when you change everything all at once. But this is home. We are here and here we are. Everyday we wake and and by the time we go to bed we agree that it's getting that much closer to filling the gap....but the real truth here is that....there's no place like home.
